Fitness Content Ideas for Instagram: 30 Posts That Bring In Clients

by Gilbert Hasballa 20 Jan 2023

Fitness Instagram content ideas and Canva templates

Fitness is the most crowded niche on Instagram. Everyone is posting workouts, and most of it looks the same. The trainers who actually get clients from social media are not posting more, they are posting differently.

Here is what to post, and why the usual advice quietly fails.

Why workout videos alone do not bring clients

A demo of an exercise gets watched and scrolled past. It shows you can perform a movement. It does not show that you can help someone who has tried three times already and given up.

The people who hire trainers are rarely looking for a new exercise. They are looking for someone who understands why they keep stopping. Content that names that is what gets saved, shared, and eventually answered with a message.

The three kinds of post that do the work

Teach something small

One correction, one idea, one thing they can use today. Small and specific beats comprehensive.

Name the obstacle

Say out loud the thing that stops people. Time, soreness, embarrassment, starting over again in January.

Show who you are

People hire a person, not a programme. Your standards, your humour, who you work best with.

If a post is not doing one of those three jobs, it is filling space rather than building a business.

30 fitness content ideas

Teaching posts

  1. One form mistake you correct every week
  2. How to warm up properly in five minutes
  3. What progressive overload actually means
  4. How many rest days you really need
  5. Why the scale moves up before it moves down
  6. Protein explained without the maths
  7. What to eat before an early workout
  8. How to tell good soreness from an injury
  9. Two exercises that do the same job, one is safer
  10. How long results actually take

Posts that name the obstacle

  1. What to do when you have twenty minutes, not an hour
  2. Training when you are too tired to train
  3. Why you keep starting over in January
  4. Feeling watched at the gym, and how to get past it
  5. What to do after a week off
  6. Eating well without cooking separate meals for the family
  7. Progress when the scale will not move
  8. Training around a desk job and a sore back
  9. Why motivation is the wrong thing to wait for
  10. How to keep going on the days it feels pointless

Posts that show who you are

  1. A myth you are tired of hearing
  2. What a session with you actually looks like
  3. Who you work best with, and who you do not
  4. Why you became a trainer
  5. A client win, shared with permission
  6. Your own training, including the bad days
  7. The advice you have changed your mind about
  8. What you wish beginners knew on day one
  9. Something you got wrong early in your career
  10. How to know when a trainer is right for you

Posting consistently when your day is full of clients

Stop filming everything. Video is useful but it is the slowest content to make. Mix in graphics and carousels so a busy week does not mean a silent week.

Batch on your quietest day. One session of planning and designing beats twenty minutes of panic every morning.

Repeat what works. Your audience turns over constantly. A post that did well six months ago is new to most of the people who follow you now.

If you would rather not design them yourself

Every idea above is free to use. If designing them is the part that never happens, we make editable Canva packs for this niche.
